At the very top of the apartment building of 667 Dark Avenue, near Jerome and EsmĂ© Squalor’s enormous and ridiculously fancy penthouse apartment, were two pairs of elevator doors.
The first was an actual elevator, which would make the trek up the sixty-six floors of the building much easier. The second pair of doors, however, were the entrance for a dark, secret passageway.

An “Up” button would open the pair of doors, and after a very long (approx. three-hour) descent down an empty elevator shaft, one would arrive in a small and filthy room which once housed the Quagmire triplets, Duncan and Isadora, in a rusty metal cage.
Leading from the room was a long, winding hallway. The hallway ended at a trap-door in the ceiling, which would deposit someone at the Baudelaire mansion—at least what was left of it anyway.
It can be assumed that this passageway could’ve deposited an arsonist at the Baudelaire mansion.
